moving day

Who knew we would be so sad to leave little Cedar City? But seriously I miss it already. We made so many incredible friends and have some great memories down there. We got ourselves a Uhaul and thanks to our sweet ward, packed up in a few hours. And if it weren't for my girl Lyndsi we would have been there for 5 hours cleaning, I owe her an arm and a leg. Baby Grant slept the whole way to Salt Lake. Our little basement apartment isn't quite finished so we're camping it out and my parent's house. Which means Grant is wanted by many hands.
I keep trying to schedule busy days because it feels like we're just going to hop back in our car and drive to Southern Utah, but we're here to stay!

one month old

I can hardly believe baby Grant is one month old already. He's such a sweetheart, he blesses our lives so much and teaches me more about myself and life everyday. He's outgrown all of his newborn clothes, with some of his 0-3 month stuff getting too short quickly. Also I peeked at his socks yesterday, the ones that fit him perfectly and they said "12-18 months" on the bottom. Um what? He's also sittin at a healthy 22 inches and 12 lbs 2 oz. Slow down bud!
Grant is smiling so big lately, and when you put him up by your shoulder to burp he'll hold his head up and stare at you, such a big boy. He farts like a truck driver and can launch his pee so far if you're not careful. We've been having some minor tummy problems lately, thankfully we've been giving him drops that help so much (and preserve our hearing).
I've officially done my hair twice since he was born. I can make a sandwich, do my make up and go to the bathroom one handed (not all at the same time, obviously) in case Grant is nursing, I can still sustain my life/accomplish multiple things. Our nights are getting much better too. He still eats every 3 hours, almost on the dot that prompt little man. I'm so grateful for Tyler, he changes so many diapers, forces me to take life saving naps that keep me from dying of exhaustion, plays with Grant everyday and makes sure we're reading the scriptures as a family daily. He's about to start his new job and Grant and I will miss him so much! If you read this far I'm impressed. Happy one month sweet baby Grant, we love you so much! Also, viva America.

happy birthday, mama!

Today is my beautiful mama's (50th) birthday! We love you so much, you're such a hard worker and a great example of a wonderful mother. Even though you're turning 50, you'll always be the hip, young mom who played tag with us and dressed up every Halloween. Happy birthday, we love you!
P.S. Thanks for not being mad that we took you to lunch so your sister and cousins could decorate the house with giant bras and grandma panties... You're a trooper!

weekend

We snoozed, we ate, we went to St. George one last time before we move! The temple was beautiful, we took Grant around the grounds and just chatted. I can't believe we just have a few more days in Southern Utah! I've been down here for 3 years and Tyler and I have spent all of our dating/engaged/married life down here. It's crazy all that we've accomplished - we went on our first date, had our first kiss, fell in love, went to the temple once a week, got our bachelors and started our family. Now Tyler is applying for dental school in a week and we can't wait to see where that takes us!

like father like son

Tyler and I were looking through pictures when we came across the one of him sleeping on the floor... Grant makes that exact face! Especially when he's sleeping. Arms up, eye brows looking so concerned. Such cuties.

bath time

You get the before and after pictures, the during was not so lovely... and also I couldn't figure out how to crop the photo so Mr. Johnston (that's what he's called at our house) wasn't in the shot. We had some post bath cuddles and then talked about how fuzzy Grant's hair is. He's the cutest.

real life

This is what it looks like my friends. When his diaper has been changed, he just ate, was burped for 10 minutes, snuggled, wrapped in a blanket, walked around the house... this is what happens. And moments later he fell asleep for the next 4 hours. These pictures both shatter my heart and make me laugh hysterically. Because sometimes there's nothing you can do but watch him and snap some pics. We're having a much better day now, sometimes you've just gotta get a little energy out via newborn scream ya know? Poor guy. I love him so much! Dramatic screams and all.
